Frequently asked questions

Where can I purchase SunRace products?

SunRace products are widely available at the local bike shops, however SunRace supplies only to trade customers. If your local bike shop does not have SunRace products, please ask them to contact their wholesaler in order to obtain and supply SunRace products.

What is the standard warranty on SunRace items?

The standard warranty on SunRace items is 24 months from the date of original purchase. This is applicable to all issues caused directly by a production issue. Please contact your local bike shop where the product has been purchased to handle the claim.

Can I order every item which is included in the SunRace catalogue?

Unfortunately not. As we have such an extensive range, we cannot offer all products in the aftermarket and only selected items are offered in aftermarket packaging. It is up to the distributor what aftermarket product they decide to carry in their range.

I bought a new bike, but the SunRace component broke. Who should I contact for the warranty?

Please contact the local bike shop where the bike was purchased for further assistance on the warranty. The local bike shop will get in contact with SunRace to handle the claim.

How tight should I tighten my SunRace cassette on the body?

We recommend tightening the cassette with our TLCS1 (instuction) with 40 Nm.

Does a 12-speed cassette fits on a 11-speed body?

In general the answer is yes. The cassettes have been made so that the 12-speed cassette will still fit a 11-speed body. Please note that the body of a MTB and Race-wheel are different in length, the MTB-body is slightly shorter than the Race-body. On an 11-speed MTB-body you cannot fit a 12-speed Race-cassette, but the other way around, it will work. A 12-speed MTB-cassette will fit onto an 11-speed Race-body.

My XD-adapter broke. Can I order a spare one?

Yes, we do have the XD-adapter available as a spare part. For further information, please find the product page of this SPCS ADX here.

My smallest sprockets are worn out. Do I need to purchase a new cassette?

You do not have to do so. If the smallest three sprockets of the 10-, 11- or 12-speed cassette needs to be replaced, you can purchase our spare package of these 3 sprockets. Please check the product page of these spare parts here.

Are SunRace products compatible with Shimano or Sram?

Yes, our products are compatible with Shimano and / or Sram. Our cassettes will fit onto the HyperGlide fitting (for both Shimano and Sram drive trains) or XD (for Sram drive trains). Unfortunately, we do not have any Microspline-compatible cassettes. For derailleurs and shifters the standard is Shimano-compatible, unless it has been stated clearly that the item is Sram-compatible.

What is the difference between a freewheel and cassette?

A freewheel is a single-unit where all the sprockets are assembled together and the freewheel/engagement function is within the freewheel itself, but it cannot be disassembled. A cassette is a set of sprockets divided by loose spacers, which can be placed onto a hub body. For engagement on cassettes this happens within the hub mechanism. A freewheel can only be used on a threaded hub whereas the cassette will be placed onto a HG- or XD-body and tightened with a lockring.
